Jesse Arthur DeGeare
1944-2016
July 30, 1944 – April 27, 2016 GUTHRIE Cashion and the great state of Oklahoma lost a wonderful man on Wednesday evening. Jesse Arthur De-Geare, son of Theda and Jesse I. DeGeare, died on Wednesday in his home. He battled both lung and prostate cancer the last 13 years and an even harder battle of a broken heart after losing his wife of 48 years, Shannon in August of 2014.Jesse was born in Oklahoma City on July 30th, 1944. The youngest of three, with an older sister Mary Alice (O’Daniel) and an older brother Danny.
He met his wife in 7th grade where after leaving her stranded at a dance, managed to win her heart back. They were married on November 15th, 1965, and a year and a half later gave birth to their first of two sons, David. A year and a half later on their 3rd anniversary, Jay was born. In 1976, Jesse, following in the footsteps of his father in the electrical field, started OKC Electrical Contractors Inc. A company that thrives today and is now run by his son David.
After living in Oklahoma City, the family moved to Edmond in 1982. In 2000, with both boys out of the house, married, and 4 grandchildren (Christian, Reagan, Jakob and Taylor), Jesse and Shannon moved to Guthrie to retire. It was there that they discovered great joy in farming, raising cattle and a vast array of cats, dogs, and horses. Although cancer stole Jesse’s body from this earth, his joyful, complimentary, fun-loving attitude will live on with almost every person he encountered. He was a man of incredible integrity that believed in hard work, having fun, and most importantly God. He will be sorely missed by all who survived him.
Graveside service will be 10am Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N. Kelley Ave., Oklahoma City
