Jerre Lynn Byers

Jerre Lynn Byers

1950 – 2023

Mom, Nana, Aunt Jerre, just Jerre to some, and Jerre Lynn to her mother and husband, was born in Oklahoma City on September 9, 1950. She was the second child of Marvin Raymond Smith and Ella Rosemary Ramsey Smith who lost their first child, Penny, after she was only on this earth a short time. The family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1952 where her sister, Janelle, was born and from there to NW 44th in Oklahoma City where she went to kindergarten. They moved to Edmond and lived on an acreage with MeeMaw and PawPaw Ramsey on dirt road East 15th Street until their house next door was built in 1962. She grew up helping and playing in their garden and orchard with their cousins: Charles and Delores’ kids Delinda, Robyn, Debbie, Deanna and Craig; Ellis and Margaret’s kids Bob, Margene, Rosemary, and Randy; John and Kay’s kids John and Rodney; Clyde and Francis’ kids Carolyn, Larry, and Allen; and Nina and Byron’s daughter Karen. Of the aunts and uncles, Delores is still with us and cousins Randy and Karen have passed away. She was born again through faith in Jesus Christ in 1965 at Falls Creek Baptist Assembly. She met Jerry Byers at Lone Star Baptist Church. They were married on June 28, 1968. First dates. Only dates. Married 55 years last spring on the day their second great grandchild, Remingtyn, was born. Their marriage brought 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grand children. Jerre Lynn lives on through her family. Daughter Brooke Wroblewski and husband Layne, parents of Sophie, Zoey and Zachary; son Brett Byers and wife Ale, parents of Cooper and Elhem; grandson Bailey Byers and wife Jacie, granddaughter Carsyn Walters and husband Dakota with son Beckam and daughter Remi; son Ryan Byers with sons Tallon and Corbin; sister Janelle Campbell; and nephew lan Campbell with wife Marilyn and sons Eli, Daniel, and Bennet. Along with many other loved ones. Jerre Lynn slipped off into Eternity to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, after a 14 month struggle with a rare incurable disease on December 9, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 20 at 10 AM at Northeast Fellowship, formerly Lone Star Baptist Church. 1805 E Hefner Rd. Oklahoma City, OK 73131.

Memories of Jerre Lynn are sprinkled all over my growing up years. She was one of those strong women role models that shaped me as Brooke and I ran around learning how to take on the world. She always put family first and loved unconditionally. The hole she leaves in this world will be felt by so many. I am confident my dad has already sought her out up in heaven to chat it up about all of us. Much love to the family – Tonya Garman

She was my Mother in Love, we loved each other so much, every day, I couldn’t understand how people didn’t have MIL’s they didn’t love deeply. My “Nana” as I called her the whole time because it’s how I meet her and being new to the USA costumes didn’t know it was only for kids to call their grandmother’s I called her that every day, she was my example of a mother that loves with all she had, not asking anything back, she toughened me the love of a mother that gives, gives and gives .. that doesn’t judges, a love so inocente that was almost unreal, I love my Nana with all my heart every day, I love and talk to her still every day to be able to make my decisions, Nana was so good, God wanted her with him the sooner he could, she’s out angel and our star ⭐️
And she will always be 🩷

  4. I worked at Mardel for yrs and she would come in to get a card or just look around, she always had a smile! She would ask how my family was. I was not a member of the family but she always made me feel like I was. Love you 💖 all! Cindy Smith

Jerre Lynn has been my almost lifelong friend, sine we were 9 or 10. We met at church. She taught me to play solitaire when I spent the night with her and Janelle. We were locker mates and sang in every choir in high school and sang in a trio with my sister at church. I knew she and Jerry would marry after we graduated. She always talked about family, cousins and dear neighbors, never a bad word about anyone. When she and Debby and I got together for lunches years later, it was like we had never been apart. I will miss her until I see her again. My heart breaks for Jerry, Janelle and all of her family and friends.

  6. I was blessed to know Raymond & Rosemary, Jerre Lynn and Janelle Smith at Lone Star Baptist Church back in the early 1960’s. Jerre Lynn was a bubbly personality who always seemed to have a smile on her face . . . and she was such a wonderful singer! Both she and her family were faithful in their Christian lives and role models for those of us who love them. I pray for Jerry, Janelle and the rest of Jere’s family during this difficult time.
