Jean Eloise Phillips
1922-2021
Born in Walters, Oklahoma to Robert and Minnie Fowler and lived in Oklahoma City for over 90 years. She was married to Jacob Dawson Phillips 1942-1969. While her husband toured Africa and European countries during World War 2, she worked at Tinker Air Force Base, and was taken for a flight in the Enola Gay before it completed its mission in Japan.
Jean Phillips died March 6th, 2021 at Mercy hospital after a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by children Judith Dian Walker, Jacob Dawson Phillips Jr., and Mark Allan Phillips. She is survived by children Daniel Phillips, Marilyn Young and her husband John, Carolyn Rice, Stephen Phillips and his wife Charlene, and Cynthia Garrison. She is also survived by grandchildren John Walker, Kimberly Falldine, Stephanie Hutto, Cassandra Rice, Mark Garrison, Dylan Garrison, Stormy Phillips and Charlie Phillips, as well as beautiful great and great great grandchildren.
She was employed by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, retiring in 1981. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, as well as a joyful member of the senior choir for several years until no longer able to attend. She sang a beautiful rendition of “Happy Birthday ” to her twin daughters last September.
Our heartfelt thanks to Mercy Hospice and the medical staff at Mercy hospital for their wonderful care of our Mother. And, SHE DID NOT DIE FROM COVID-19.
A graveside Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
