While Residing in NY she began her career but never forgetting her church and civic duty.  In 1985 she and her family relocated to Edmond, OK, where she continued to be very active.  In her words she said, “Volunteerism has been a part of my life since I was young.”  She was chairperson of the Logan County Democratic Party for many years and proud to be a diehard democrat.  However, volunteering at Church held a special place in her heart as she said “While community-at-large brings satisfaction, nothing has brought me so many blessings by working in and for St. Monica’s Catholic Church.”  Whether chairing or serving on various committees, Janet shared her time and talents.

She loved gardening so St. Isidore Society was a perfect fit.  Her love of the poor was evident in her work with St. Vincent De Paul Society.  She was chair of the Welcoming Committee for new parishioners and active in Sacred Heart Parish in OKC.  She cooked meals for the sick.  If a parishioner needed help or guidance for some organization she was there.  As a result of her endeavors she was awarded St. Monica’s Women of Achievement in 2008.

The Family would like to thank Maryellen Sessa for her daily spiritual support given to Janet during this journey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to Regional Food Bank of OKC.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday June 20, 2014 at 10 am.
