Jamie C. Mease

February 27, 1958 – November 11, 2020Mease, Jamie

Jamie Mease was born on February 27, 1958 in Springfield, Missouri to Bobby and Maree Mease. He passed away peacefully at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the age of 62 after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.

Jamie grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and in 1976 graduated from Oak Park High School. He was then employed at Sears Automotive Center.

On September 5, 1982 he was united in marriage with Anita Schmidt at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with one son, Matt.

Jamie enjoyed playing softball and the family had many hours of fun at the ball fields of the Kansas City area as well as at tournaments in other states.

In June 1996, the family moved to Edmond and Jamie had employment with Blackmon-Mooring where he was a dedicated and hard worker.

Jamie was an exceptional bowler having bowled two 300 games and always carried a high average in his leagues. He also enjoyed an occasional round of golf, playing cards and especially spending time with family and in recent years developed a love of cooking for them. (But he did not like the cleanup).

Jamie was preceded in death by his grandparents; brothers-in-law, Tim Schmidt and Chet Shoaf. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Anita; son, Matt; his father and mother, Bobby and Maree Mease; his brother, Kevin (Carlene) Mease; his father and mother-in-law, Marvin and Helen Schmidt; his brother-in-law, Lowell (Jean) Schmidt; sisters-in-law Susan Shoaf, Janet (John) Hoener, Barbara Schmidt; nieces and nephews and many friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service will be held at 10:0 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel Edmond, OK.

  1. I first met Jamie while playing softball with his father in 1971. Sometimes we would ride together to games in their big old green Impala station wagon with Jamie and Kevin in the back along with pop, food, and beer in a cooler. Jamie always has a smile on his face just like the picture included with the obit. Later in life we reminisced about the games he had seen us play and he would remember more about them than I could. Love to his family and friends as he will be missed. Great friends and great family!

  2. Jamie and I first met when we work together at Sears automotive center. Jamie had a great sense of humor and love to tell jokes and sometimes we would collaborate on practical jokes on some of our fellow employees. Jamie always had a smile on his face and I considered him to be one of my very closest friends.

  3. I met Jamie in 1996 when he and his wife (Anita) moved to Oklahoma. Jamie was always smiling and having fun. He was the type of individual that would do anything to help when needed. We always joked around all in good fun. We would say I was his other wife LOL because he would always offer a hand if I needed him. Jamie will be dearly missed but never forgotten! Fly high my friend until we meet again. Love you Honey!!

I, along with countless others in Kansas city will miss Jamie’s good humor and nature. My good thoughts go out to his whole family.
We had many laughs in high school and the years later playing poker, softball and basketball. He will be missed.

I first met Jamie through bowling leagues in Edmond. He was part of the Foresters league which our neighborhood league merged with. We quickly became friends through our mutual love of bowling and golf. Over the years our families became good friends and we were blessed with their compassion and generosity. Our family will never forget the kindness and and blessings the Meases gave to us when I was battling cancer in 2014. We are sending big hugs and heartfelt prayers to Anita and Matt and the rest of Jamie’s family. He will he greatly missed. RIP my dear friend. ????

I met Jamie at Blackmon Mooring where we worked together for 20 years. He was a hard worker and a very good employee, but most of all, he was a very dear friend. We had many long conversations after everyone else had left for the day. He always had a smile and kind words even in the most difficult times. He was always willing to help any way he could. He will always bring a smile to my face when I think about him. His battle here on earth is complete, but we will meet again. Anita and Matt, may the peace of Jesus Christ rest upon you and keep you in His perfect love. ?❤️?
