James “Wayne” Sparks
1938-2019
James “Wayne” Sparks, age 80 passed away July 3rd, 2019. Wayne was born September 7, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas to James Everette Sparks, Jr. and Oma Ella Lemond Sparks.
Wayne enlisted into the Army at the age of 17. He finished as Special Forces Green Beret. He was an instructor and master parachutist. He taught reconnaissance methods skiing all over the alps. After returning home, he never wanted to ski again. He did enjoy being stationed in Germany. Wayne married the love of his life Patricia Ann Hall and together they have 6 children. Kim, Kelly, Gerri, Colleen, Joyce, and Jami. In 1995, at 56, Wayne and Pat opened Oklahoma Envelope Company. He was a man’s man. He was a strong man of courage, wisdom, kindness, great love, and always had an unyielding devotion to his family. He always looked for teachable moments. He was a man of many words. There was always more he wanted to tell us. He was an encouraging man that his family looked up to. He was a hard-working man who never gave up on anything or anyone. He had the best stories and always saw positive attributes in everyone. We will never forget his laughter, voice, his love, and his life. He was very patriotic and a sharp dresser. He liked his cigars, hats, and wildlife. We will miss his Christmas speeches, hearty laughter, and loving smile.
Wayne is survived by his loving family; His wife Pat, 5 daughters, 1 son, 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Oma and Everette Sparks; his brother Gerald David Sparks; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, July 8th at Matthews Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.
