James Harper
1933-2016
James Marion Harper, Sr. was welcomed into Heaven by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jean, his son, James Marion Harper, Jr., and numerous other family members on the early morning of August 29th, 2016. He is survived by his daughter, Karen, sons, Rick and Dennis, their wives, Shannon and LuAnn, brother, Robert, and his wife, Barbara. He was a Grandpa to nine grandchildren, and a Great-Grandpa to twelve great-grandchildren, all whom he loved so much and was so proud of.
Jim was a lifelong car enthusiast, and was dedicated to his business, Harper’s Auto Service at the corner of 63rd Street and May Avenue in Oklahoma City from 1957 to 2005 when he retired. He and his wife loved to go on adventures on their touring motorcycle, take weekly trips to Lake Eufaula, and go to as many of their grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events as possible. He always enjoyed meeting new people, and loved to bring a laugh to someone’s day. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
His Memorial Service will be held at Matthew’s Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Avenue Edmond, Oklahoma 73003, on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim’s name to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital Research Foundation online at www.okheart.com/research/make-a-donation or by mail, OHHRF 4200 West Memorial Rd. #510 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73120.
One of the finest men I knew. I made many of trips to his DX station. He took great care of my mom and dad.
