1927-2019
Jacquie was born on February 6, 1927 in Quincy, Illinois to William and Ethelyn Channon. As one of four sisters, she grew up in a loving family. She met the love of her life, Larry Flesner, who she married on February 24, 1946. They lived on a small farm outside of Golden, Illinois and quickly became parents of 3 adorable little girls in 4 years. It was hard work raising her 3 children and working the farm all the while. So when they had the opportunity to move to a big city, she was thrilled! They loaded up all their belongings in 1955 and headed to warmer weather in Dallas, Texas. Larry was also excited as he began a new career with a small startup company called Haloid that later became Xerox! This young family thrived in Dallas, but Larry had an opportunity to advance in the company and so they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma in 1963. Although Jacquie quickly became active in their church and other organizations, she was a wonderful homemaker and always available for her girls. As a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church, Jacquie taught the children’s choir for many years as well as singing in the adult choir. She served as church secretary at one point and loved her bible study group and couple’s club. Jacquie was also active in Edmond Republican Women’s Club, Newcomer’s Club, and later in life was a faithful volunteer in the Edmond Hospital Auxiliary. As a couple, Larry and she loved to travel, play pinochle, and participated in the Elk’s Club of Edmond. In 2008, Larry passed away but Jacquie was still in good health and totally independent. She was an avid tennis player till the age of 80 and was faithful with her water exercise for over 40 years! Jacquie is loved by her 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, many who live right here in Edmond. Although she was sad to have left her home of 50 years, Jacquie has enjoyed living at Touchmark since December 2014. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church.

My condolences to Cynthia and Sonja and families. Your mom was so very special to me, as was your dad. We at Peace were so blessed by their godly love. I’m so very sorry for your loss.
Larry hired me to go to work for Xerox in 1975. I loved him so much. Jacquie was such a big part of his life. He was constantly talking about her and where they were going or what they were doing. I was welcomed into their house many times. Jacquie was a sweet heart to all!
