Jacquetta Audine Blehm

June 23, 1943 – December 11, 2020

Jacquetta Blehm was born on June 23, 1943 in Enid, Oklahoma to Cecil and Violet Carroll. Jacquetta had an older brother, Edwin; twin brother, Jack; and younger sister, Garnetta.  She lived most of her childhood in Enid and graduated from Enid High School.  Jacquetta held fond memories of her early years and her many friends in Enid.  She was a proud member of the Legionettes Drum and Bugle Corps based in Enid.  After high school, she worked as a nurse’s aid and then secretary at General Hospital in Enid.

Jacquetta gave her life to Christ at the age of 12 and lived as a faithful Christian all of her life.  She was an active member of a local church in every community in which she lived.   For the last several years she was a member of the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, OK

Jacquetta married Jerry Hayes in 1963.  They had three children: Carla; Jerry, Jr., and Daryl. In 1972, they moved to Wichita, KS where, in addition to being a homemaker, Jacquetta would baby sit children to earn extra money for the family.

Following her separation from Jerry in 1977, Jacquetta moved to Guthrie, OK where she began working for the Logan County OSU Extension Service.  In 1982, Jacquetta married Charles (Charlie) Blehm and moved to Cashion, OK.  Following his passing in 1990, Jacquetta moved to Edmond, OK.  After 25 years with the Extension Service, she retired in 2003.

Jacquetta enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, playing games, and being a mother and grandmother.  She was a friend to everyone.  She loved fiercely, gave freely and laughed uncontrollably touching many lives.  In good times or times of trial and tragedy, Jacquetta demonstrated great faith in God and the power of hope and joy in all circumstances.

Jacquetta passed peacefully from this life on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the age of 77.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Violet Carroll; one brother, Edwin Carroll; her husband Charlie Blehm; and a great-grandson, Maddox Durbin.  She is survived by her brother, Jack Carroll and his wife Marilyn; her sister, Garnetta Payne and her husband Mark; her daughter, Carla Jones and her husband Pat, her son, Jerry Hayes, Jr and his wife Dana; her son Daryl Hayes and his wife Amy; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

There will be a graveside service held at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Guthrie, OK on Tuesday, December 15 at 2pm.   A visitation for family only will follow at the Poplar & Warner Church of Christ fellowship hall located at 320 N. Poplar, Guthrie, OK.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Jacquetta to Lilyfield adoption and foster care services or your home church.

Jacquetta was always happy and ready to have a good time. We met at church camp in high school and got reacquainted decades later at MRCC where we became good friends playing cards and traveling together with our special group of single ladies. She made delicious fried potatoes and angel food cake. I really miss her.
