1927-2019

JW was born on July 6, 1927, in Marlow, OK. He was the sixth of seven children born to Thomas Edward and Roxie King Bradley. He attended Central High (Marlow) and graduated as the President of the Senior Class in 1945.

JW attended Cameron College for one year and then returned to the family farm to help his father. He went to work for Halliburton Services where he swept floors in the machine shop in January of 1948. He commented that he would stay until harvest that fall. He retired from Halliburton as a Senior Buyer in July of 1990 after 42 years of service.

He met Jeanell Nease at Central High and they married on July 7, 1948. They had two “only” children that were nineteen years apart. They moved into a house on 608 N 18 Street in Duncan in 1951 and lived there until 2011.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Duncan. He and Jeanell were baptized by Oren Utley in 1952 at Westside Church of Christ. They were members there for many years and JW served as a custodian and a Deacon. They attended almost every service, wedding, funeral, meeting, and any other activity. JW was a song leader in services and continued to enjoy singing until he died. They later attended Eastside Church of Christ in Duncan where they faithfully worked and served until 2011.

JW and Jeanell moved to live with their daughter in Edmond, OK in 2011 after Jeanell suffered a stroke. They stayed with both daughters until Jeanell passed away in 2017. JW lived with their daughter in Missouri and most recently at Heritage Assisted Living in Yukon.

JW passed away in Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City on Thursday, September 5, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanell, both parents, all of his brothers and sisters, one son-in-law, and one grandson. He is survived by his two daughters, Vickie Stamper (husband Clint) of Kimberling, MO, and Robin Beam (husband David) of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren, Brad Morrisett (wife Holly) of Edmond, OK, Lance Morrisett (wife Jennifer) of Hooker, OK, Melissa Bukovatz (husband Greg) of Springfield, MO, and Seth Beam of Edmond, OK; 10 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, OK from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, September 7, at 2:00 pm at Eastside Church of Christ in Duncan, OK, with Minister Ron Stough officiating. Interment will follow at Leticia Community Cemetery in Lawton, OK. In lieu of flowers, please donate in JW’s name to In Search of the Lord’s Way, 1321 E 9th St, Edmond, OK, 73034.

We loved JW & Jeneall and have missed them being a part of Eastside. Praying for peace and comfort only God can give you during this time and the days after.
