August 15, 1923 – June 9, 2015. Ivye Christine, 91, went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2015; the daughter of Carl Valmer and Ruth Pearl (Lockhart) Arnold. Ivye was born in Dustin, Oklahoma. As a teenager, Ivye loved to sing in church with sisters Audrey Mae and Jeannie and aunt Hazel. She graduated Wetumka High School in 1942. Ivye and her family moved to Whittier, California when she was 21 years old, arriving on Easter Sunday morning, 1944. During WWII, she worked as a riveter for Douglas Aircraft Company. After the war, Ivye and her sister Jeannie Boyd owned and operated a beauty shop in Whittier. August 25, 1948 she married Charles Davies, then moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where first daughter Marilyn Ruth was born. A few years later, the family moved to Oxnard, California where their second daughter Janet Beth was born.
We will always hold dear her strong commitment to our Lord and her love for her family. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue on within her family and the lives of those she touched. She leaves cherished memories with her brother Carl Ray Arnold; her daughters Marilyn and Janet; Marilyn’s husband Douglas Reeves and their daughters Alyssa, Sherri, and Jenna; Janet’s husband Gregory Coppock and their daughters Taryn and her husband Michael Froeberg; Elizabeth Green; Colby and her husband Chad Duty and their children Dustin and Everly; and Shayli Coppock.
Marilyn, daughter and family of Ivye, sorry for your loss, as a cousin but little contact in this life, I know that this is hard but that a peace can be had through your faith in God as our comforter. I know and understand this kind of loss as I have lost both Daddy and Mother (Palmer and Pollyanna Lockhart) and I miss them more the older I get. I will forever have memories of your Mother and Dad as I was in Aunt Hazel and Uncle Hermann wedding. Also of memories when they came back to Oklahoma to see family. Prayers for a great comfort in this time. Leaving this reply as I will not be able to attend the services, but wanted you to know I care for all of the family.
To the precious family of Ivye
What an honor to have known such a gracious woman of God
We will be eternally grateful for our connection with her and all of you.
You have made a tremendous impact on our lives and love you all so much.
She was one of the most genuine people we have ever met and loved God with all her heart and leaves a blessed legacy and an enduring impact upon this earth and to the body of Christ
We love you Ivye and will miss you greatly!
May God Bless you and wrap His loving arms around you during this difficult time. Your family will be in my prayers and I pray for peace and clarity. I have only had the pleasure of seeing Ivye a couple of times, but that’s all it took to know what a wonderful, special, loving and caring person she was. I know she will be greatly missed and remembered always.
