Inge Elizabeth Jost

May 24, 2021 – October 21, 2021

Inge Elizabeth Rogge Jost was born on May 24, 1926, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. She passed away on October 21, 2021, in Edmond, Oklahoma.

She and her family entered the United States in December 1927 and moved to Sheboygan, WI where other members of her family had previously settled.  Inge graduated from Central High School in 1944, and married Donald Jost on October 1, 1949, at St. Mark Lutheran Church.

The couple moved to Stevens Point, Wisconsin in 1950 and quickly became active members of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  Inge taught Sunday School, served the Altar Guild, and with Don, became a founding member of PALS (Plan a Lutheran School) that helped make St. Paul Lutheran School possible.

Her Christian faith invigorated her throughout her life and gave her comfort in her final hours.

Over the years Inge worked as a secretary for McDonald Abstract, managed the local Girl Scout office, worked as a ward clerk for St. Michael’s Hospital, and for fourteen years as a teacher-aide in Jackson Grade School.

In 2008 the couple relocated to a home in Edmond, Oklahoma near their oldest daughter Kathy.

Inge is survived by their two daughters Kathy Jost Karfonta and husband Richard Karfonta, and Karen Jost and husband James Edgar, her grandchildren Kirstin (Karfonta) Taylor, Kimberly (Karfonta) Carnley, Kyle Karfonta, Maris Edgar, Grace Edgar, and Madeline Edgar, and great-grandchildren Alexis Taylor, Kat and Kenna Carnley, and Connor and Blake Karfonta.

Inge loved welcoming guests and gardening with Don, romantic movies and books, picnics in Iverson Park, cooking and baking perfect cookies, and children. She was the best mom, the best grandmother, and the best great-grandmother that anyone could hope for.

Graveside services are scheduled for Sunday November 14, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
