October 20, 1925 – June 24, 2015
Idamaye Jeffries, of Edmond, OK, went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2015. Idamaye was the fourth of six children. She was born in Dacoma, OK, on October 20, 1925. She was preceded in death by her parents (Ray and Lola Vore), three brothers (Jack of Purdy, MO; Bob of Cleo Springs, OK; Vick of Wellington, KS); two sisters (Helen of Fairview, OK; Joann of Elkhart, KS).
She graduated from Dacoma High School in May of 1943 and attended NSU in Alva, OK where she received her teaching certificate. On Nov. 3, 1944 she married Joe Jeffries in Dacoma, OK, at the Church of God parsonage. They resided in Carmen where she taught and worked until moving to Blackwell, OK, in June of 1950. It was at Blackwell First Church of the Nazarene that both she and Joe came to know the Lord under the ministry of Rev. Melvin Riddle. Many wonderful pastors followed (Rev. Roy Darden, Rev. Larry Wade, Rev. Larry Henderson). Under their ministries, Idamaye and Joe’s faith in God grew as they became more involved in the church. In 1979, they moved from Blackwell to Edmond, OK. Here they came under the ministry of Rev. Mark Hollingsworth, who has been their pastor for 20 wonderful years.
Idamaye is survived by her husband Joe Jeffries; two sons, Larry (wife Marcia), Chuck (wife Renee); five grandchildren, Jennifer (husband Tyler), Angela (husband Jeff), Jeffrey Todd, Stacie (husband Zane), Greg (wife Kristen), and 16 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Edmond Nazarene Church family and friends for their prayers and encouragement. The family also wants to thank the Fountains of Canterbury for their care and support in Idamaye’s final days. We especially thank God for His gift of Ella Scott, who so lovingly cared for our Mom.
Wanted you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Wish there was someway we could be there, but our hope
of seeing each of you is in the future.
Praise God for the hope we have because of the sacrifice of Jesus
when we repent of our sins and put our faith in Him alone! Because
of your prays and prayers of others for me, I have that hope as a certainty.
Mrs Jeffries, Grandma. Will be truly missed. My family were neighbors of the Jeffries and Mrs. Jeffries leaves many found memories. In His Love!
