Mom it all started in 1975 when My Mom Youla Kay Brown made the choice to give us up to you and Dad to raise. By doing so you both gave us Three Kids what she couldn’t give us a Stable home. I remember asking Dad if it was okay to call you Mom he said ask her so I did. I remember at moment I ask you and you said Yes, and then followed it with you can refer to me as your Step Mother, Mom or Ida. I thought for a minute, and went and ask Dad what does step mean well he said to help you up into the house or one leg or foot one after another. I said Ida why would I call You these things, how about me calling you just My Mom so it was done. Years went by things come up referring to us Three as her step kids I said no we are NOT! Ask her yourself and MOM’S reply was nope these are MY KIDS I have NEVER used that term when talking about them and will never. See My Mom Ida is much more than titles she is a kind person with a heart of Gold she gave up so much for all four of us Kids to give us a home FULL OF LOVE and Respect. She took in my Cousin’s and Uncle and Aunt from Broken Arrow.because she didn’t want to see them homeless, all this in a two bedroom house. Or Jay Fox because she wanted him to Get an Education and Graduate but most of all surrounding him with LOVE. The Cowboy Crew she patched them up or just had funny as a family. Then there was a Tall guy from Ennis Texas that was here going to College, missing home and his Mom and I just so happened to work with him at Whataburger. I ask Mom if I could ask him over for a home cooked meal certainly. the rest was history he was our Texas Brother aka Tall Paul. Mom referred to everyone as her Noah’s Ark of Family. She Loved them All like her OWN kids. So THANK YOU GOD, for setting the path that led us to Mom she is a TRUE BLESSING AND GIFT from you to us. And that’s “PRICELESS”
LOVE YOUR DAUGHTER

Here is Mom’s Obituary.. It is her own words. As she said to me as she wrote it, it’s hard to sum up a life well lived and loved. I love you to the moon and back Momma.
How Beautiful Josie!! Only met her 3 times, but yet I just LOVED that Lady!! Always a smile and upbeat. Promise we will stay in touch my Dear!!
I got to know Ida & Josie through the OKC Jr Blazers. It was like meeting old friends and family. You always had a smile & warm hug. You treated me, Audrey & Bentley as if we were part of your family. You are going to be dearly missed but this isn’t goodbye. It’s see you later. There is a Bronco hockey Team in heaven that needs you now. We all love you . With love,
Angie Hedge & family
Sorry to hear of Ida’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
I remember Ida when she worked at Marjorie’s beauty salon, she was always so sweet. She even did my hair a few times before I graduated.
I got to know Ida through Sandy Stewart. She even cut my hair for me and gave me a perm. She was in bradford assisted living for a while and so was my mom. My mom wasn’t happy about being there. I took my mom to meet Ida so she would know someone there. Ida treated my mom like an old friend even though they had just met. Ida meant the world to a lot of people. She never met a stranger even though I didn’t see her very often she was always there with love in her heart. I’m going to miss you Ida, Josie please take care and I’ll see what I can do to get to the funeral. I’ve been sick and I don’t want to get anyone else sick. We’ll see how I feel Wednesday hang in there babe I know it’s hard. I’ll be going through the same thing when my mom passes. I can totally relate to what your going through. Your strong like your momma, it takes a strong person to be someone’s sole caregiver. God bless and hope to see you Wednesday 😉
Ida Newton was a wonderful person who I am glad came into my life. There are people that come into your life and you are not sure of the reason. It became apparent very quickly that we were meant to meet. Ida taught us so many life lessons and was always there to support us. Showing up to a show at the State Fair, making a poster for a child. Thank you Ida, I am a much better person for knowing you and thank you for being a friend to the Shattan family. Till we meet again.
Somewhere in our heart beneath all the grief and pain,
Is a smile we still wear at the sound of your dear name.
The precious word is ‘MOM’, she was our world you see,
But now our heart is breaking cause she’s no longer here with us.
God chose her for His angel to watch us from above,
To guide us and advise us and know that we are still loved.
The day she had to leave us when her life on earth was through,
God had better plans for her, for this, we surely knew.
When we think of her kind heart and all those loving years,
Our memories surround us and we can’t hold back the tears.
She truly was our best friend, someone we could confide in,
She always had a tender touch and a warm and gentle grin.
We want to thank you Mom for teaching us so well,
And though the time has come that we must bid you this farewell.
We will remember all you’ve taught us and make you proud you’ll see.
Thank you our Dear Mom for all the love you showed us.
Although you’ve left this earth and now you’ve taken flight,
We know that you are here with us each morning, noon and night.

Ida, the years that I’ve known you being with Tammy I know that as I talk to Sandy and Tammy about this the stories of the KFC chicken and the chicken noodles.both which you told them you made homemade. It gives me a chuckle. Or the way that when we had Christmases together my mom and stepdad would come over and you and Mom would tell each other stories and Mom related me later about places that you told her about in Kansas and how that my mom wanted to go there to see the places. It’s so hard to sum up The Feelings that I have for you, for instance you telling me when you and Doug took custody of the kids and you didn’t know what to do and how you called your father and he said just do it, it influence me on having a part to raising Tyler and Cody. I thank you so much for the guidance, I love you very much, and I know now that you’re not hurting anymore. I think what I will miss most of all it’s just stories how you would be telling a story and I was listening intently, bewildered eyes listening to every syllable that you spoke and somehow seeing it to your eyes, the stories of Kansas the places that you’ve been the people that you meant the stories that you relied. I know you’re with your family now that you missed for so many years. Rest in peace. We love and miss you very much. Godspeed.
