Hyun Sook Lee “Harmony”
Hyun Sook Lee was born in Seoul, Korea on January 20, 1927. Her parents were Lee Song Tauk and Hau Teh Sook, and she was the youngest of four children (Lee Moon Suhp, Lee Chong Suhp, and Lee Pok Soon).
Hyun met her husband Lee Eil Won in 1946, and they were married in a traditional Korean wedding in Seoul surrounded by their family. In 1948, they had their first child, Lee Hong Im (Tammy Gaddy), daughter; in 1954, they had a son, Lee Seung Joon; and in 1956, they had another son, Lee Se Joon.
Hyun moved to America in 1985, she lived in Oklahoma City and Edmond, Oklahoma. She and her daughter owned Tammy’s Laundromat in Edmond for twelve years. They sold Tammy’s Laundromat in 2001, and then opened Tammy’s Wine and Spirits. They operated the liquor store for six years, at which point they sold the business and retired.
Hyun loved sewing, gardening, cooking, spending time with family, and attending church services. Hyun and her daughter were members of St. John the Baptist Church in Edmond.
Hyun will be remembered as a selfless person who always sacrificed her needs for the good of others. She was quiet, always smiling, never complained, and was an inspiration to her family.
Hyun passed away peacefully on November 25, 2017 surrounded by those she loved. She is survived by her daughter, Lee Hong Im (Tammy Gaddy); her sons, Lee Seung Joon and Lee Se Joon; her grandchildren, Marie Narak, Angela Gaddy, Joseph Lee, Ta Gon Lee, Ho Yon Lee; her great-grandchildren, Destinee Narak-Clinkscales, Philip Narak, Victoria Narak, Jon Gaddy; and many great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Edmond, OK with interment at Resurrection Cemetery in OKC. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK.
