Wylie Earl Clayton

May 25, 1946 – February 3, 2022

Wylie was born to John Henry and Ima Mae on May 25,1946 in Plainview, Texas. The youngest of nine siblings, Wylie loved his brother and sisters dearly. Growing up he enjoyed fast cars, riding horses and whittling. Later in life, Wylie devoted his time to his sons, grandchildren and eating breakfast at Jimmy’s Egg.

Wylie carried a heart of a leader and teacher in his various career paths. He was gifted with his hands and could fix anything. Wylie was a talented artist and won many awards for his leather art at the state and county fairs. A true cowboy, he never left the house without his hat. He loved the Lord and enjoyed worshiping with friends at the Cowboy Church.

Wylie was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Ima Mae; brother, Troy Keith; and sisters, Ima Jean, Zelma, Nora Pearl, Leta Mae, Mildred and Rosa Mae. He is survived by his sister Wynonna Newton; sons, Lyndon (Melissa), Jon, Timothy (Jessica) and Daniel (Julia); grandchildren, Jonna, Holden, Lauren, Austin, McKynzie, Taylor, Jacob, Hannah, Elijah, Samuel and Ollie; and beloved by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wylie passed away on February 3, 2022, surrounded by his sons sharing memories and laughing about all the stories they listened to time and time again.

Public visitation will be held Thursday February 10th, 2022, from 1:00PM to 8:00PM as well as Friday February 11th, 2022, from 8:00AM to 1:00PM at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK.

Services will be held Friday February 11th, 2022, at 1:00PM in the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, OK. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on  Waterloo and Sooner Road.
