Wayne Mac Boatman
1936 – 2022
Wayne Mac Boatman was born April 1, 1936, in Taloga, Oklahoma to Walter Howard and Jesse Lea Boatman. As a young child the family moved to Woodward where he lived until he graduated in 1954. Upon graduation, he attended Oklahoma University. After the first year he enlisted in the Army, where he served in Korea. He then continued his education at Oklahoma State University and Northwestern College in Alva.
At OSU he met his wife, Abigail (Newcum) Boatman. After they married in 1960, they lived in Ponca City, Oklahoma City, and Cordell. While living in Cordell their two sons, whom he dearly loved, Zack and Andy, were born. Fourteen years later the family moved to Edmond where they have lived for 43 years. In 1970 Wayne was trained in oil and gas as a petroleum landman and continued that career until retirement.
Wayne had a great impact on many lives. He was a friend of Bill W. for 52 years, where his life was one of service, dedicated to offering a helping hand to those in need and living a life following the twelve steps.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lea Boatman, and two sisters, Patricia Darcey and Mallory Owen. He is survived by his wife, Abigail, their sons, Zack Boatman and wife Michelle of Edmond, and Andy Boatman of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by granddaughter, Sky Boatman, who gave him great joy, a sister, Connie Christopher, of Perkins, brother and sister-in-law Bob and Nancy Newman of Tulsa, and many beloved nieces and nephews that loved their “Uncle Wayne.”
