Virginia Louise Allen Gibson

1944-2021

Virginia Louise Allen Gibson was born on March 18, 1944 in Oklahoma City.  Her parents were Everett and Jackie Allen and her two siblings were a sister, Carolyn, and a brother, Sam.  Virginia graduated from Edmond High School in 1962 and married the love of her life, Carl Gibson, that same year on June 30th.  They met at the Wynn’s IGA grocery store that was on north Boulevard.  He was working there and she was shopping with her parents.

They soon had two children, Brent, who was born in 1964 and Stephanie, who was born in 1967.  They lived in Edmond, near Orvis Risner Elementary School, until 1977, when they built a house in Timber Ridge.  Later on, they built their most recent home in Coffee Creek addition.

Virginia has four grandchildren, who have brought lots of joy to her life – Chelsie Goforth, who lives in Pryor, Oklahoma, Shane Gibson and Chase Gibson, who both live in Edmond and Delanie Dennis, who lives in Grapevine, Texas.

She also has six great-grandchildren!  They are Raiden, Makenzie, Ryder, Sawyer, Graham, Henley and one more on the way in June!

Virginia was always a very social and active person and has been in various bridge groups throughout her life.  She also enjoyed volunteering by reading with underserved children and loved to do puzzles, play games and sudoku.  Her favorite all time activities, though, were playing golf with Carl and friends and traveling.  She was blessed to be able to travel to beautiful places, including trips to Niagara Falls, a Mediterranean cruise, Australia and New Zealand.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Jackie Allen.  She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carl Gibson, her sister, Carloyn Van Wieren and husband Fred Van Wieren, her brother, Sam Allen, her son Brent Gibson and wife, Kristin Gibson, her daughter Stephanie Goforth and partner, Randy Pryor, her grandchildren, Chelsie Goforth, Shane Gibson and wife, Brittany Gibson, Chase Gibson and wife, Sloan Gibson, and Delanie Dennis and six great grand-children.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

A celebration of life service will be held for Virginia on Monday, November 29th, 2021 at 2:00 pm at First Christian Church of Edmond.
