Ruth Catherine Stevens, 78, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away October 27, 2022 at her home.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday November 1, 2022 at 10:00 am at Matthews Funeral Home. 601 S. Kelly Edmond, OK 73003. A viewing will be held Monday October 31 from 12:00 – 6:00 pm.
Ruth was born in Edmond, Oklahoma to John and Eva Baffrey on January 10, 1944. She married William A. Stevens May 21st, 1960. Over the years she worked a variety of jobs, but childcare was where she left her mark. In her later years she spent her time taking care of the elderly. One thing is for sure it didn’t matter if you were young or old, when in her care she left her mark loving you as if you were her own family. In her free time, she enjoyed the casino, General Hospital, her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years. Her parents John and Eva. Brother Melvin Baffrey. Sisters Deloris Dabbs, Wanda Whitmire, Bertha Young, Jean Williams and son in law David Penick.
She is survived by daughters Rhonda Penick of Edmond. Tonya Boydstun and husband Gerry of Edmond. Stepdaughters Debra Stevens of Edmond and Deanna Johnson of Yates Center, Kansas. Grandkids Kilee Lamb and husband Josh of Norman. Kacee Saenz and husband Joey of Edmond. Gerika Hirsch of Edmond. Shawna Johnson of Yates Center. Great grandkids Baylee, Emma, Ryan and Ransom Lamb. Jaxon and Shylee Saenz. Hunter, Landon, and Lincoln Hirsch. Rhylan Altman and Carson Bishop. Sister Billie Ruble of Tecumseh, OK and many nieces and nephews.
