Ronald Lee McEwen
1939 – 2023
Ron L McEwen age 83 left this world in the early morning of January the 6th, 2023, after a long illness with Alzheimers, he will be missed.
Ron was born on May 16, 1939 to Ethel Mae and Buck McEwen in Chandler, Ok. He and his family lived in Jones Ok where he attended all school years, he was very active in sports and band, earning the position of Drum Major and was quite savvy on the trumpet, He also joined the Marine reserve. After graduating high school, committed to defending our country, he joined the Marines full-time. After completing his service with the Marines, he attended the University of Oklahoma and with college credits in hand, Ron decided to continue protecting others and joined the Oklahoma City Police department, he never shied away from the tough cases working on the 4 shift of patrol where he was promoted to commander, he was also detective in charge on the homicide unit, after twenty years of service he retired as a Captain. Ron had several hobbies that kept him busy during retirement, he and his wife Sarah enjoyed motorcycling day trips traveling the roads of Oklahoma. Ron also enjoyed collecting guns, old knives, and historical memorabilia.
Ron is survived by his wife Sarah S. McEwen her three children Mel, Jerry, and Jeff Fina and their families, His son Kelly McEwen and his family of Oklahoma City, his Daughter Shannon Barrows and her family of Rogers, Arkansas, and his stepdaughter Tracy and as well as several grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Jones IOOF Cemetery.
