Patricia L. Warner

Patricia L. (Kaufman) Warner

December 20, 1936 – July 27, 2022

Patricia Lee Warner (85) was born December 20, 1936, in Kingman, Kansas to Menno Kaufman (deceased) and Clara Voran (deceased). Pat grew up on a farm in Rago, Kansas. When Pat graduated to high school she moved to live with her sister in town in Kingman. After graduating from high school, she moved to Wichita, Kansas, enrolled, and attended Friends University where she studied business. Pat graduated in 1957 from Friends University with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree.

While in school in Wichita she met a young man in her speech class. After some courtship and a promise to her mother that she would indeed finish school, she married Wilbur Wayne Warner on August 14, 1955. Two years later they graduated together with matching degrees. Pat spent her time working as a secretary, a job she would master over many years.

Pat took a break from working between 1967 and 1980 to raise her two children. During this time, she managed to craft Halloween costumes, repair torn items, kiss boo boos and excel at being a mother and wife. To taste her bread was to know perfection and to experience her cinnamon rolls, heaven. No one stayed home when Pat said she was making chicken and noodles; truly no one.

In 1980 Pat returned to the workforce with a temporary placement agency that quickly turned into a permanent job with the Christian Church in Kansas as a secretary. In 1986 when Wayne changed his employment to Norman, Oklahoma, Pat took a job at Norman High School in the attendance office. Pat later moved to Norman North High School when it was opened in the early two thousands. Pat retired from working while at Norman North.

Pat had two siblings and was preceded in death by her brother Wes Kaufman of Kingman, Kansas and survived by her sister Shirley Coykendall of Wichita, Kansas.

Wayne and Pat adopted a son, Wesley Wayne Warner (54) of Edmond, Oklahoma, in 1967 and a daughter, Elisabeth Anne Houk (deceased) in 1970. Wayne and Pat have seven grandchildren, Dawn Rodriguez, Alexandra Warner, Jessica Weber, Winston Warner, Caleb Houk, Sara Houk, and Mackenzie Warner. Wayne and Pat are also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Ryan Craft, Aurora Craft, Aurelio Rodriguez, Izzabella Rodriguez, Elijah John, Benjamin John, Joy Weber, Klorissa Warner, Harley Jones, and Ellie Warner.

Wayne and Pat’s favorite vacation location were the mountains of Colorado. Indeed, when Wayne was in graduate school, they would spend the weekend in the Rockies camping and enjoying the fresh mountain air. This continued into their later life, and they were often found driving out to Gunnison and spending a week or two relaxing at or above the tree line.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday August 15, 2022, at First Christian Church of Edmond in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Memorial contributions can be made in Pat’s honor to First Christian Church of Edmond’s Breakfast on Boulevard.
