Nancy Jean Dees
September 3, 1936 – December 27, 2022
Nancy Muir Dees was born September 3, 1936, in Canadian, Texas, to Furman and Floy Williams. She died December 27, 2022, after a lengthy illness. She graduated from Canadian high School and later. as a “mature” student, received her BA from Panhandle State University, Goodwell, Oklahoma. She attended UCO for her graduate degrees. Nancy taught school in Guymon, Bartlesville, and Edmond. Her favorite position was director of the In School Suspension Program for Edmond Public Schools. In order to have better skills in working with the students who were making poor decisions, she completed the program to become Reality Therapy Certified. It made such a difference in her life that she went one to become a Senior Faculty Member for the William Glasser Institute. This allowed her to teach throughout the United States, Ireland, Columbia, and Singapore. After retirement, she and her husband became very involved with a prison ministry which enabled her to use the skills she had as a teacher and counselor.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, daughter, Susan Brewer, grandson, Beau Brewer, and stepson, Lyndon Dees.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Dees of Edmond, daughter, Glena Muir of Edmond and stepdaughter, Leah-Anne Janway, and husband, Kenny of Oklahoma City. Her grandchildren are Levi McMellian and wife, kara, Nikki Huffman and husband, Brad, Matt Junway, Brandon, Jessie, and Tyler Dees. Her great-grandchildren are Chase, Blaze, Slate, Sloane, Sedona, and Beaux.
She will be missed by friends in both the United States and Ireland.

A come and go visitation will held at Matthews Funeral Home on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
