Matthew Lawrence Lemley

Matt Lemley

May 6, 1977 – Dec 9, 2021

Matthew L. Lemley, born May 6, 1977 in Houston, Texas, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 9, 2021 in Edmond, Oklahoma.

He leaves behind his adoring wife, Faye Rodgers, mother, Sharine Lemley, brothers David and Jonathan Lemley, grandmother Joyce Karr, as well as his nephews Zephyr and Jack, as well as many other beloved family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Lemley, and his best friend and dog, Mary.

Matt lived a full life and had many interests. He graduated from University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in art. He was a sports enthusiast, accomplished artist, loved yardwork and building/creating things from the ground up. His tool collection, which he graciously shared with anyone who asked, was the envy of the neighborhood.

He was many things but most known for being thoughtful, caring, superstitious (especially about the Astros), gentle, funny and kind. Even on his sickest days, he managed to bring humor and laughter into his home. Everyone who knew him was drawn to his genuine kindness, positive energy and nonjudgmental attitude. Matt loved unconditionally and was so very loved in return.

He cherished his wife, Faye, and made her a priority every day. He had a way of showing his love for her in lavish ways. From small gestures like a perfectly picked out card to grand gestures like turning their home into the state fair when she couldn’t attend. Simply put, he was the best husband.

A small private gathering was held in his memory with close friends and family at his home. In lieu of flowers, please consider becoming an organ donor in honor of Matt’s beautiful life.

I went to grade school with Matt. We bonded over our love of art and humor and spent hours talking and making each other laugh. He was a good friend to me at a time when I did not have many friends and I will be forever grateful for his kindness. I am so sorry to learn that he has passed, sending comfort to all who loved him.
