Lois Eilene Niswonger Hallman, devoted Christian, wife, sister, mother, and grandmother passed away on October 22, 2022, at the age of 79 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Lois was born to Wesley and Hazel Niswonger in Colby, Kansas on October 26, 1942. She grew up in Atwood, Kansas with her parents and sister, Ellen Niswonger. Lois graduated from Atwood High School in 1960. She then moved to Enid, Oklahoma to attend Phillips University, graduating in 1964 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Lois taught elementary school in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, North Enid, and Enid Oklahoma.
While working the switchboard in her college dormitory Lois connected a call for a young man she would marry in 1965. Lois and El Roy spent 57 years together living in Enid and Edmond, Oklahoma where they raised their two daughters, Laurie Lynne born in 1969, and Kimberly Anne born in 1972.
Lois later worked for many years at First National Bank of Edmond and the University of Central Oklahoma. After retiring Lois enjoyed life at home with her husband and visits from her daughters and her four grandchildren, Zachary, Lani Grace, Brody, and Joshua.
Lois was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed reading about influential people and exploring national and world news on her iPad. Lois loved music, poinsettias and had a wonderful sense of humor. Lois was a member of the Davis Park Christian Church in Enid, OK, and was raised in the Disciples of Christ Christian Church. She was a woman of a strong faith demonstrated through how she lived her life, loved her husband, and raised her family.
Lois will be dearly missed by her husband, sister, daughters, and grandchildren and they are rejoicing in her heavenly reunification with her family and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Hazel Niswonger, and her grandson, Zachary Alvarez.
Services will be held at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Atwood, Kansas at 216 S. 6th Street, Atwood, KS 67730.
