Lillie Ellen McDonald
1928 – 2021
Lillie Ellen McDonald passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on December 15, 2021. She was born in Geary, Oklahoma on October 7, 1928, to Willie and Edith Douglas who preceded her in death.
Lillie married the love of her life John in 1947. They spent most of their married life in Oklahoma City and Edmond where they raised their three children Carol, Cindy, and John. Growing up Lillie played softball, basketball, and played cornet in the band. As an adult Lillie loved to camp, fish, travel, take care of her 7 grandchildren, but most importantly she loved the Lord.
After losing her eyesight in 1981 Lillie worked hard to maintain her independence and successfully did so until her final days.
She is preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, 3 sisters, and two of her sons-in-laws Ken and Randy. She is survived by daughters Carol Simmons and Cindy Lovett both of Edmond, her son John McDonald and LeeAnn of Wichita, Kansas, 7 grandchildren Kari, Jeff, Kim, Colin, Kevin, Emily, and Lori, 14 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday December 21, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Matthews Funeral Home.
Services will be held Wednesday December 22, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
