1928-2023

Leola Katherine Honeycutt was born in Navina, Oklahoma on July 9th, 1928, to James P. & Emily Griffin. She went to be with her loving Lord on January 6, 2023.

Leola was preceded in death by her sister Blanche Flowers and her loving husband Bruce. She is survived by her children, Jenifer Hill of South Bend, Indiana; Eddie Honeycutt and wife Jackey of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Evelyn Robinson and husband Jim of Cashion, Oklahoma; and Lloyd Honeycutt and wife Lori of Edmond, Oklahoma.

She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Seretta, Sara, Jessica, Shanna, Leslie, Sean, Kyle, Erik and Brad, 14 great grandchildren, her sister Mary Stone of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leola grew up in Cashion, Oklahoma and graduated from Cashion High School in 1946. After high school, she moved to Guthrie and worked at the Logan County Court Clerk’s office where she met Bruce. She and Bruce married September 1, 1951. After marriage she was a homemaker. In 1973 they purchased the Montgomery Ward Catalog store in Guthrie where she worked until 1986 when the store closed.

In retirement, Leola and Bruce enjoyed going to their grandchildren’s activities and their daily walks around Mineral Wells Park. She loved her daily bible reading, crocheting, birdwatching, and most of all, her jigsaw puzzles. In her later years she developed many loving friendships at her retirement community. Leola was full of love, always welcoming her grandchildren’s friends as her own. All of her family and friends will deeply miss her.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 10th at Matthews Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Edmond Church of Christ with interment to follow at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, OK.
