Knox VanHoy

1931 – 2021

Knox VanHoy, 90 passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021, in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was born in Durant, Oklahoma on May 27, 1931.

Knox graduated from Durant High School and then attended Southeastern University in Durant Oklahoma. After graduation he served in the US Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma until 1955. Knox then began his career in the oil industry in Oklahoma City until retirement from Woods Petroleum Company.

He married his high school sweetheart, the former Martha Ruth Haggerty, on October 15, 1952. After Martha’s passing in 2003, he married Frances Ann Clark on April 6, 2010. They resided in Edmond, Oklahoma. Fran passed away on February 21st, 2021.

Knox was an avid OU Sooner football fan. He loved the company of his four cocker spaniels that he and Martha raised through the years. They enjoyed traveling, OU football, family food feasts and daily coffee and donut visits with their friends.

Knox and Fran enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time together. Knox was devoted to the care of both Martha and Fran. He was of the Christian faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Jewell VanHoy, his first wife Martha, second wife Fran, and his brother-in-law David Sheffield.

He is survived by his daughter Debi Hendrix and her husband Sam of Ardmore OK, sister Gwen Sheffield, nephew Michael Sheffield and niece Blythe Carroll and her husband Ben, all from Texas and a very special friend and “Sis” to Debi, sweet Emily, who is full of love and energy. She arrived at just the right time to bless us all along with Chaplin Cameron who blessed Knox with his visits. A special thanks to the staff at Legend at Jefferson’s Garden for giving special care and attention to our family. And much gratitude to Oklahoma Palliative and Hospice for their loving care.

Private family services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Durant Oklahoma.
