John W. Reese
1945-2022
John William Reese, known to family and friends as “Bill,” age 76, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday September 26, 2022. He was born on November 18, 1945, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the son of Jim and Sarah Reese. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Williams, on June 15, 1968.
Bill graduated from Norman High School and received a baccalaureate degree from the University of Oklahoma. After serving in the Army he received his Master’s degree from Ohio State University, and embarked on a career as an educator, eventually returning to the Norman community as a high school teacher with Norman Public Schools until his retirement in 2005.
He was a wonderful husband and father, and deeply loved by his family and friends. His kindness and patience were foundational to his character as both a father and educator.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Reese; children, Jim Reese, Susan Oliver, and Brian Reese; his sister, Caroline Morris; his brother, James “Bo” Reese; and grandchildren, Aaron, Allen, Megan, Ryan, Aubree, Ethan, Ainsley, Aiden, Zayne, and Addison. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Gail Reese Ward.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, 1801 W. Brooks, Norman, Oklahoma 73069 at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
