Jimmy R. Riggs
1943-2022
Jimmy was born to Robert and Lodema Riggs in Clinton Oklahoma. He was the eldest of 8 children.
He is predeceased by his parents, son Jimmy, jr and daughter Rayna. Brothers, Bobby Riggs and Billy Riggs, sisters Gwen Benson and Vera Juncker, and grandson Eric Peck.
He is survived by his wife of 40yrs, Janet of the home. Son Greg Peck(Jeannie)of Colorado, Daughter Shannon Wood of Edmond Ok, Son John Riggs(Rolanda) of
Guthrie Ok, Daughter in Law Lisa Riggs of Oklahoma City. Sisters Alice Hagar(Truel) of Wellston, OK, Annette Crist(James)of Guthrie, OK, Margaret Riggs of Oklahoma City, Brother in law Larry Roper(Lisa) of Nocona Texas, Jerry Roper(Linda)of Yukon Ok, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and special friend, Carol Honea, whom he loved like a sister! Numerous nieces, nephews and friends!
Jimmy was a 1961 graduate from John Marshall High School, he then joined the US Navy and served until 1969. He spent the next 15yrs + as a carpenter, then a few years in the Oil Fields before going to work with Standard Testing and Engineering for almost 20yrs. After retiring he started working on and restoring Classic cars, he was very proud of his 1971 Chevelle SS.
On December 19, 2010 Jimmy was Baptized and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his heart, by Pastor Griff Henderson who became his friend and mentor at Waterloo Road Baptist Church.
Jimmy was loved and respected by many, and will be greatly missed by us all!
Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Matthews Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2022 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with inurnment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery Edmond, OK.
