Jerald Graham Orendorff

1943 – 2022

Jerald (Jerry) Graham Orendorff was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on July 30, 1943, to DeLoss and Mary Audrene Orendorff and raised in Tulsa.  He passed away October 5, 2022, surrounded by family members.  He graduated from Daniel Webster High School in Tulsa in 1961 and from NSU in Tahlequah with a BA in Political Science in 1965.  He received his Master of Arts in Counseling in 1969 from Louisiana Tech.  He was employed by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission where he held various positions in Tulsa, Muskogee, Tahlequah, and at their state office in Oklahoma City where he worked until he retired with 30 years of service in 1992.

He married Carolyn Hope Hammer of Muskogee in 1970 and together they raised their family starting in the Lake Tenkiller area before moving to Edmond in 1978.  Before he became physically limited, he enjoyed playing the trumpet,  golfing, snow skiing, and attending OU football games.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn; his daughter, Diane Renee’ Orendorff Bondurant of Edmond and her fiancée Michael Welch; son Jay Grayson Orendorff and wife Pam; granddaughter Tarin Allison Bondurant and her father, Mike Bondurant, all of Edmond.  Jerry was also blessed with two bonus adult grandchildren,  Kailey McGovern and Kyle McGovern of Edmond.  He is also survived by his brother Ellis Orendorff and wife Sue of Mannford; sister Deanna and husband Jim Briscoe of Rogers, Arkansas; sister Denise and husband Bill Haynes of Bixby; and sister Robin and husband Brody Johnson of Owasso; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and his wife’s extended Hammer family members.  Jerry will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2022 at St. Luke’s Edmond United Methodist Church (900 N. Sooner Road, Edmond, OK.)

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the St. Luke’s Edmond United Methodist Church Mission’s Fund.
