Glenda F. DeVoe

1936-2022

Glenda Frazier DeVoe, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly July 22, 2022. She was born April 25, 1936 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to the late Velma Long and Verner Glen Frazier. Glenda grew up and graduated high school in Follett, TX, a small farming community in the Texas Panhandle.

Glenda came to Edmond in 1953 to  attend Central State College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She met and married the late Richard DeVoe and lived in multiple cities in Oklahoma before settling in Edmond in 1972. While at college, Glenda and her husband made life-long friends that they saw every summer. This group was affectionately known as the reunion group.

Glenda was an elementary teacher for 33 years and retired in 1995. After leaving teaching, Glenda took a little part- time job at Target, that turned into a 26 year second career.  Glenda’s favorite things were spending time with her college friends, hosting card club at her home,  making trips to her cabin in Colorado, and spending time with her family.

Glenda is survived by five children: Darcee Young, of Edmond; Dawn (Mark) Teal, of Ada; Dee Anne(Steve) Wieduwilt, of Blue Springs, MO; Derek DeVoe, of Tulsa and Doug DeVoe, of Edmond. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and far too many friends to count.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. Private graveside at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond.
