Gerald “Garry” D. Hanneman, Sr.
1936-2021
On the 19th day of august in 1936 Gerald Duwayne Hanneman Sr was born to Harry and Helen Hanneman in Peabody Kansas a small farming community. Gerald grew up in 4H and FFA through high school raising duroc hogs, which also helped with his college tuition. While in college Gerald married Marilyn Morton of parsons Kansas and after having three children Gerald Hanneman jr, Mark Hanneman and Michelle Hanneman. Gerald and Marilyn divorced after 37 years of marriage. Gerald graduated from Kansas State University in 1961 with a degree in veterinarian medicine. Gerald worked in a private practice and through a chance meeting eventually became a senior research scientist for animal biology group for general dynamics in Texas until 1968. Gerald then went to work for the FAA in Oklahoma City Oklahoma doing research with animal transportation where he retired. Gerald enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and their activities. Gerald also enjoyed church volleyball and various church activities. Gerald was preceded in death by parents Harry and Helen Hanneman, son Gerald Duwayne Hanneman Jr and leaves behind brother Bob Hanneman, a son Mark Hanneman and a daughter Michelle Hanneman and their spouses. 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m., Thursday, January 6th at Matthews Funeral Home with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church in Edmond, OK.
