Reverend Gene LeRoy Drain

1933 – 2022

Gene LeRoy Drain, a retired minister, residing in Edmond, OK, entered his heavenly home on July 13, 2022, at the age of 88 after valiant battle with serious illnesses. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Gene was born to the late W.C. and Katherine M. Drain, an Assembly of God minister, and a homemaker, in Shidler, Oklahoma on November 20, 1933. He then followed in his father’s footsteps and went on to graduate from the Southwestern Christian College with a bachelor’s in ministry.

He married his best friend and fellow parishioner, May Arlene, on March 2, 1956, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. They continued to serve the Lord in their ministry by pastoring churches in Carter, Britton, Taloga, Hennessey, and Leedey. After retiring he then continued to do God’s work by helping at Revive Church. He loved ministering to everyone, and when he needed to be recharged Gene loved to listen to the Gaither’s Gospel Singing.

Gene is survived by his wife, May Arlene Drain Edmond, OK; his sons Sam Drain; Edmond, OK and David Drain; Edmond, OK. 5 grandchildren Shelly and Philip Catalano Edmond, OK; Cameron Drain Edmond, OK; Brad Drain Oklahoma City, OK; Kandy and Adam Wicker Edmond, OK; Sandy Watz-Drain Mustang, OK; and 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Zella Fae and Dorothy Mains; a brother Edgar Drain, parents W.C. and Katherine Drain; and daughter in law Debbie Drain.

Public visitation will be held Monday July 18th, 2022, at Matthews Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with family present to greet friends and guests from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday July 19th, 2022, at 10:00 am at Revive Church, Edmond, OK.

Cemetery Service will be held Tuesday July 19th, 2022, 4:30 pm at Masham Cemetery, Pawnee County, OK.
