Elizabeth Adrienne Flurry

1937 – 2022

Elizabeth Adrienne Flurry was born December 3rd, 1937, to Paul Joseph and Marion Frances (Clark) Sharpe in Mission City, British Columbia, Canada. She left her earthly body and entered eternal paradise on September 15th, 2022, at her home in Norman surrounded by her loving family.

Adrienne grew up in the mountains in North Bend, Canada and loved the outdoors her whole life. She was the oldest of 6 siblings.

In 1963 Adrienne was married to her first husband and had 3 beautiful children. She and her family lived in Washington State, Florida and Yokohama, Japan. They divorced in 1977 and Adrienne moved to California.

She married the love of her life Charles “Dan” Daniel Flurry in Las Vegas in 1979. She and Dan welcomed a daughter in 1980 before moving to Birmingham, Alabama in 1981. The family lived in Birmingham until 1984 when they moved to Oklahoma.

Adrienne loved children and worked in childcare for many years. She received her Early Childhood Education degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1993. Adrienne loved watching the faces of children light up when they learned something new. She worked for several years for the Absentee Shawnee Headstart teaching preschool. After leaving the Headstart, she worked at Dale Rodgers Training Center with disabled young adults until she retired in 1999.

She enjoyed gardening and camping. Adrienne was an avid reader and always loved to learn something new. Adrienne had a wonderful sense of adventure and loved to travel.

Family was so important to Adrienne. She loved big, sometimes noisy gatherings and holidays with all of her children and grandchildren. She leaves a legacy of love for family and will live in our hearts forever.

Adrienne is survived by her loving husband Dan Flurry, her daughter Megan Brown and husband Chris Brown, daughter Jeannette Finch and husband Lance Hammond, son David Berndt and wife Laurie Berndt, and daughter Susan Berndt-Knighton and husband Rick Knighton. She is also survived by her grandchildren Josh Straka, Caleb Straka, CJ Brown, Hunter Brown, Ray Iness, Chris Finch, Alex Finch, Jenna Berndt, Nathan Flurry, Shayna Brady-Sanchez, Savanna Brady, Emily Brady, Blake Knighton, and Sean Knighton. As well as 6 Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Joseph and Marion Sharpe and stepdaughter, Shelley Flurry Jones.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Humanity Hospice and the kind staff at Matthews Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made in Adrienne’s name to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 27th, 2022, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1777 E Robinson St, Norman, OK 73071, to begin at 2:30pm.
