Donna Gene Wedman

1929-2022

Donna Gene Wedman was born on June 6, 1929, in El Reno, OK to Agnes and E. D. Brock.  She was the first born and had three younger brothers.  She graduated from Classen High School in Okla. City, OK.  She married Paul Andrew Wedman in 1949. They made their home in Okla. City from 1951-1963.  Then they moved to Edmond, Okla. where they had a house built on an acre of land.  They lived in this house on Ketch Dr. for 52 years and raised their four daughters. Later, she moved to Bradford Village in Edmond.  Donna retired from Ralston Purina after 22 years in the office as a traffic clerk.

Donna had many talents.  She was an excellent seamstress and made many of her girls’ clothes, made curtains, altered clothes, and made quilts. She was very artistic and loved the challenge of making wreaths, putting flower arrangements together, knitting items, and decorating Easter crafts.  Donna had a sharp mind and an incredible mental strength that got her through many of life’s challenges. Her faith was important to her, and she was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Donna is survived by her four daughters:  Suzanne Wedman, Edmond, Jody Walters, Edmond, Carrie Wedman, Okla. City, and Paula Whirrett, New Haven, IN.  Also, two brothers:  Carlton Brock and wife Natalie, Shreveport, LA and Don Brock and wife Pat of Tahlequah, OK. Three grandsons: Toby Duffle and wife Kayla, Edmond, Jeremy Duffle and wife Kim, Guthrie, and Nick Walters, Okla. City.  Great Grandchildren Ashten Self and husband Michael, El Reno, Tyler Duffle, El Reno, Aden Duffle of Okla. City, and Jacie Scott of Guthrie. One great, great granddaughter Leland Jo Self, El Reno who was born on April 5, 2022.  Donna was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Doyle (Buddy), and her husband Paul.

Donna enjoyed her time at Bradford Village.  She loved being able to live independently, made many friends, and participated in several activities.  Her friends will dearly miss her.  We will miss our mother terribly as she was the “rock” of the family, and we are thankful for her 92 years of life.

We would like to thank the wonderful, compassionate ICU nurses and doctors at OU Medical Center in Edmond who took such good care of mom her last two weeks of life.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, OK with inurnment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Okla. City, Okla.
