1940-2022
Dan Sprayberry was born on October 11, 1940, in Marlin, Texas to Daniel and Anna Belle Sprayberry. Dan had one brother, Donald Sprayberry, and one sister, Margie (Sprayberry) Jernigan. In Dan’s early years his parents were itinerant farmers and eventually settled near Rosebud, TX where his father was a sharecropper. Dan graduated early from Rosebud High School in 1956. Dan started college at the age of 15 and had to work to pay his own way. He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1962 with a degree in accounting. After college, he served in the US Navy for 2 years. For most of his professional life, Dan worked as a CFO for various hospitals in Texas.
Dan married Jeanetta Norton on December 23, 1972, in Saginaw, Texas. Together they had three children: Marcy, Amy and Andy. In 1996, Dan and Jeanetta relocated to Oklahoma to be near their children. Dan worked for the Edmond Hospital before retiring in 2003. They enjoyed their retirement together maintaining lush flower and vegetable gardens, feeding the wildlife that visited their yard and loving their family. Dan had a talent for baking delicious pies and cobblers which he loved to share with friends, neighbors and family. Dan became a Christian at an early age and lived a life of faith. He was most recently a member of the Waterloo Road Church of Christ.
Dan passed from this life on Tuesday, September 13, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanetta, his parents and both siblings. He is survived by two daughters: Marcy Leonard and her husband Mike of Edmond, OK; Amy Hayes and her husband Daryl of Franklin, TN; one son, Andy Sprayberry of Cypress, Texas; five grandchildren, Marcus Leonard, Madison Leonard, Makenna Leonard, Spencer Hayes and Colby Hayes.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2022 at Matthews Funeral Home with family present to greet friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel Edmond, OK.
