Damon L. Stone
1968-2022
Our beloved husband, father, son & brother, Damon Stone, passed from this earthly life into eternal life on Monday, July 25th.
Damon LaRay Stone was born on November 19, 1968 to Bob and Sandi Stone in Oklahoma City. He spent his growing up years in Oklahoma. He loved boating, golfing, playing any sport and eating his granny’s fried chicken! He grew up with two siblings, Tom and Kelli, whom he loved very much.
In 2000, he married Shannon Stone in Oklahoma City. In 2008, they adopted Sophie Stone, now 15 years old, and in 2014 they adopted William Van Stone, now 10. Damon spent most of his career in the Telecommunications industry and had worked at Cox Communications for the past 18 years. In 2010, the family moved to southern CA where they lived until 2019. Damon loved California and took advantage of the many ways to enjoy the outdoors there! He played with a men’s tennis group regularly, mountain biked, road biked, rode motorcycles, swam with the kids, and enjoyed hiking and the beach. He loved activities enjoyed in the company of others, which most often was his family.
Damon became a Christian at the age of 17 when he was baptized along with his Papa Eddie. His faith was central to his life and he was a faithful member of several congregations, community groups and accountability groups through the years. While a member at Saddleback Church for 9 years, Damon was the head of the Cycling Ministry and led many rides on any and everything with 2 wheels. He hosted and participated in many wonderful community groups where he walked out life in a community of fellow believers who loved, cared and prayed for one another. Within the communities in which he lived, he served in multiple volunteer capacities including serving as a board member of The Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley and the Irvine Public School Foundation.
Damon loved people. He always had a smile for others and was good at staying in touch with friends near and far. Over the years he lived in multiple states from coast to coast, FL to CA, but along the way he made and kept many friends. He collected them like the treasures that they are and nurtured those relationships even over great distances.
His biggest love, aside from the Lord, was his family. When asked what words best describe him, loyal, devoted, committed, faithful, generous, loving and fun-loving come to mind. Several of those words are synomonous because that was the fiber of who he was. The gaping hole left in our family is painful beyond description. We cannot fathom proceeding through the rest of this life without him by our side. But, we believe his beautiful spirit and the true essence of who he was and who God created him to be, is ETERNAL. His spirit is with our Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father and he cannot be snatched from their hands. John 10:27-29
Damon is survived by his wife, Shannon, his precious children Sophie (15) and Van (10) as well as Brittany (34) and Blake (33). He is also survived by his mother and father, Bob and Sandi Stone, his brother and sister Tom (wife Michelle) and Kelli as well as their children Jackson, Kennadie, Tatum, Ryan and Lindsay.
