Clara Jean Fuqua
1925 – 2022
Clara “Jean” Fuqua, Age 97 of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 26, 2022 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Jean was born on January 8th, 1925, at home, to Andrew Gaylon Davis and Mabel Creola O’Quinn Davis in Garland, TX. After graduating from High School, Jean moved to Midland, Texas, where she met and married Don Hyatt on October 17, 1942 at the age of 17.
Jean and Don had one Son, Walter Gaylon Hyatt on March 7th 1944. Jean worked as an Oil & Gas Executive Secretary her entire career and retired from Southland Royalty (now Conoco Phillips) in 1986 after 23 years’ service. Don Hyatt passed away on October 12, 1977. She married her 2nd husband, John Robert Fuqua “Bullet” on September 12th, 1984 and lived in Granbury, TX. Jean moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to be close to her Grandson’s family in 2007.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Don Hyatt, her Son Walter Gaylon Hyatt, Brother Jarvis Dorsey, Sister, Carolyn Joan Davis Click/Cruz and 2nd husband John Robert Fuqua. She is survived by Grandson Monty Dolph and wife Michelle Dolph of Oklahoma City, OK, Daughter-in-law, Cheryl Dolph, Granddaughters’ Jessica, Mandy and Cassidy as well as her Niece, Carol Jean Christianson, Great Nieces, Melody Lemus and Jamie Wyrzykowski of Arlington, TX, and Nephew Joe Click and family also from Texas.
A viewing will take place from 11 am – 8pm at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave, Edmond, OK 73003. A graveside service will take place on Monday, December 5th 2022, 11 am at the Ellis Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4616 N. Big Spring in Midland, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Quail Springs Baptist Church, Senior Adult Ministries, 14613 N. May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134
