Austin Michael Willingham

Austin Michael Willingham

2000 – 2022

Our beloved Austin Michael Willingham passed away on Thursday, January 6th at the age of 21. He was born in Norman, Oklahoma to James Willingham and Amanda Myers. Austin was a husband, a son, a brother, a grandson, and a great grandson. He was an uncle, a cousin, and a nephew. He was also a friend and a Navy seaman.

Austin was someone who loved deeply and immensely, and he would tell his loved ones so dozens of times throughout the day. He had a knack for carving himself into peoples’ lives until it was impossible to remember life without him. Everything that he did, he poured his all into; everyone that he was around, he touched their hearts. Austin was generous and warm; he was always ready to provide a helping hand and perhaps most importantly, a belly-shaking laugh. He would defend and protect his loved ones–especially when a restaurant would get your order wrong–and would always make it a point to make his loved ones feel special.

Austin had a wide range of hobbies–he liked to draw, travel, go to the gym, listen to music, play video games, and hike. He had a plethora of hopes and dreams for his life. He dreamed of living in the mountains, surrounded by his loved ones and the wilderness. He had a soft spot for all animals, and he had plans to get another dog–a little sister for Atom. He was always so excited to be a dad, and he wanted to have at least 2 kids, a boy and a girl. He wanted to learn how to play the guitar, open up his own gym, and have a Star Wars lego room.

Austin is survived by his father and stepmother James and Wyleigh Willingham; wife and dog Kelly Pan and Atom; mother Amanda Myers; siblings Magen Field, Mason Willingham, and Taylor Sullivan; brother-in-law Nick Moehringer; Nana Zetta Warden; paternal grandfather Stephen Willingham; uncle and aunt Gary and Christy Cheffy; aunts Shawnee Pimental and Melissa Carpenter; great uncle and aunt Larry and Harolene Warden; nephew Greyson Moehringer; cousins (aka the Fab Four) James Pimentel, Jonathan Taylor-Cheffy, and Jasmine Eubanks; cousins Heather Mitchell, Courtney Coy, Ashley Taylor, Payton Marris, Nathan Whitaker, and Chase Whitaker; and an abundance of extended cousins and loved ones.

Austin is preceded by his grandfather Gary Warden; grandmother Marilyn Jones; great grandmothers Cora (Molly) Medford and June Warden; and great uncle Tony Warden.

Austin will be missed profoundly, tremendously, and indescribably. Words are not enough to convey the depth of his impact on us and this world. He left a piece of himself inside of everyone that loved him, and he will never be forgotten.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 222 NW 15th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73103 . Visitation will be from 1-8 P.M. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Matthews Funeral Home. The family will not be present at visitation.
