Arwanna Jeanne Shotts
October 30, 1937 – May 4, 2022
Arwanna Jeanne (Weiss) Shotts was born on October 30, 1937, to Paul and Flora Weiss. She was the oldest of their two daughters. Her younger sister, Barbara, was born 5 years later. Arwanna was born and raised in Edmond, Oklahoma.
She met the love of her life Lendon while working at his aunt’s café during college. They were married shortly after on August 16, 1957.
They welcomed two daughters Michelle, and a couple of years later, Debbie. They moved to Colorado to raise their family. While Lendon worked in the education field, Arwanna took care of their girls and the home. She also ran an in-home daycare. After Lendon retired, they moved back to Edmond to be closer to their grandchildren.
She enjoyed making homemade meals, baking, sewing, decorating their home for the holidays, spending time with family, traveling to Colorado and taking care of children.
Arwanna came from a family full of faith. Her grandfather was one of the first members of the Edmond Church of Christ. She served as an elder’s wife in Greeley, CO and Edmond, OK for a total of 30 years. She and Lendon went on several mission trips together. She also taught at Sonshine School for several years.
Arwanna kept the faith and finished the race on Wednesday May 4, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lendon, her parents, her sister Barbara Goodnight and son-in-law Brent Wiederstein.
She is survived by her daughters Michelle Cecil and Debbie Wiederstein, and grandchildren Ryan Wiederstein, Makayla Engle and husband Logan, Cara Day and husband Sam, Devan Wiederstein and fiancé Seth Nall, all of Edmond, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Public visitation will be held Sunday, May 8, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 8:00PM at Matthews Funeral Home.
Services will be held Monday, May 9, 2022, at Edmond Church of Christ beginning at 10:00AM. Interment is to follow at Waterloo Cemetery.
