Andrew “Andy” L. Sauls

March 6, 1931 – January 31, 2022

Andrew L. Sauls went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2022. He was born on March 6, 1931, in McLoud, OK to May Tucker Sauls (mother) and Ernest Sauls (father) of McLoud, OK where he grew up. He graduated from McLoud High School in 1947. He enlisted and served in the United States Army from May 1951 to May 1953. He then attended Hills Business College and upon graduation, started working for Yellow Transit where he was employed as the Office Manager for 37 Years. He retired early and went to work for SASCO where he transported laboratory animals from Oklahoma City to research Universities in Arizona and New Mexico.

He then went to work at Henderson Hills Baptist Church, where he has been a charter member since 1964. He has enjoyed faithfully serving in church maintenance for the last 34 plus years. He loved getting up and going to work right up until the day he passed. He would not have had it any other way. He loved his church family and cheerfully served there for the past 58 years.

Andy married his bride Caroline Roberson Sauls of Harrah OK on February 5, 1955. They had 2 children, Gary, and Melinda. They were happily married for 59 years before Caroline’s passing. Andy was known as “Papa” to his 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and loved being around them. He enjoyed traveling with friends and following his children and grandchildren around watching them play sports and participate in their activities. His favorite pastimes were cheering on the OU Sooner football team and watching OKC Thunder Basketball on TV! For his 85th birthday he got tickets to go catch a Thunder game in person and loved every minute.

Andy was always willing to help anyone who asked and was a jack of all trades. He could fix anything, so we called him “Handy Andy”. He will be remembered by family and friends as a very loving friendly person and always had a smile for everyone. He was a very gentle man with a very big heart. He loved with all his being and was loved by so many.

Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Roberson Sauls, his mother, May Tucker Sauls, father, Ernest Sauls, and his brother, Ernest Sauls, Jr. He is survived by his son Gary Sauls and wife Christi of Oklahoma City, daughter Melinda Sauls Deason and husband Terry Deason of Piedmont; grandchildren Jason Sauls and wife Tamara of Oklahoma City, Valerie Sauls of Oklahoma City, Chance Deason, and wife Emily of Stillwater and Caitlyn Deason Burns and husband Parker of Piedmont; great grandchildren Sophia Sauls, Max Deason and Berklee Burns; niece, Diana Sauls Martin and nephew, James Dale Sauls as well as many great nieces and nephews.
