Al Cowan
Al Cowan was born on February 8, 1938 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Alvin and Katherine Cowan. Al graduated from Guthrie High School in 1956. Immediately after graduating Al joined the United States Army. In December of 1956 Carlene joined him where he was stationed in Newport News, Virginia. They married the day she arrived on December 28, 1956. From their union came three beloved children; Kathy Mae, Mark Scott, and Kevin Jay. He served in the Army for 26 years in Helicopter Maintenance. During this time, he served around the world in Germany, France, Vietnam, and Korea. He retired in 1972 as a Sergeant Major, E-9. After retiring from the Army, Al and Carlene decided to go to college. They moved back to Tahlequah and both completed Bachelor degrees graduating in 1884. They then moved to Edmond to join Carlene’s family. During his life Al enjoyed woodworking and remodeling homes. More than anything Al enjoyed being a part of the Masonic Lodge for 63 years. He is survived by his wife and children as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2022 at Stonegate Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Edmond, OK.
