Henry Wong

1958 – 2021

Henry Wong passed away peacefully on November 20, 2021, surrounded by his family after fighting with immense willpower 14 years of recurring cancer. He was born July 8, 1958 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. Several years after he graduated from high school, he came to the United States to pursue his bachelor’s degree at Central State University (now University of Central Oklahoma). After which he returned home to marry his sweetheart Kong Thau Fun. Together they returned to the US where he obtained his Master’s degree at Oklahoma City University and they welcomed the birth of his son. He worked briefly in Oklahoma before returning to Malaysia to pursue his lifelong career as an auditor. He retired in 2018 as Assistant Vice President (AVP) – Internal Audit of Genting Plantations Berhad.

Henry was a devoted husband, father, and a family man. His hobbies included reading, investing, fishing, and eating good seafood. He was always surrounded by lots of good friends, filled with laughter throughout his life. Even in the midst of battling his cancer, Henry’s greatest joy was to witness both of his children excel in their academic success by graduating from UCO, his alma mater before stepping into their own respective professional careers.

He is survived by his wife, Kong Thau Fun and two beloved children Yang and Peng.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, Oklahoma.
