Helene D. Girardin passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2014. She was born on October 29, 1918, in Denver Colorado to Marie and Michael Dolan.
Helene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Martin Dolan; and husbands Francis Geib and Carl Girardin. She is survived by her sons Thomas M. Geib and wife, Diane, of Fairfax, VA; Richard W. Geib and wife, Peggy, of Edmond, OK; and Gerald K. Geib and wife, Lori, of Powder Springs, GA; two nieces , Sally Vagneur, of Basalt, CO and Janet Pretti of Port Orford, OR; sister-in-law, Betty Geib, of Glenwood Springs, CO; six granddaughters, four grandsons; 14 great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Donna Furgeson, and husband, Mel, of Denver, CO; step-son, Carl Girardin and wife, Lavonne, of Cheyenne, WY.
Helene’s career as an elementary teacher started in LaJunta, CO in 1942 and later at Allendale Elementary in Arvada, CO, where she touched many young lives and established life-long friendships with her colleagues. Helene was known for her generous spirit, contagious giggle, love of gardening and the great outdoors, passion for travel around the world, and pride in her family.
Her faith was a constant guide in her life-long journey.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, OK. A private family graveside will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary Chapel in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Time-Out Ministry at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edmond, OK.
Order flowers from our local florist and have them delivered to the funeral home for free.
