1944-2014

Wood, HaroldHarold Richard Wood was born October 11, 1944 in Clinton, TN, the 3rd child of Floyd W. Wood and Ruby Whitlow Wood. He passed away September 2, 2014 in Tulsa, OK. Harold was preceded in death by his father, Floyd, sister, Ruth Wood, Brother Glen Wood and son, Charles David Wood. He is survived by his wife, Judi and niece Kayla of the home, his mother, Ruby, brothers Fred Wood (Judy), Kenneth Wood (Sharon) and sister Marilyn Crick (Marvin) all of Edmond, OK and many nieces and nephews.

Harold graduated from Edmond High School in 1962 and after a short time at Central State College (UCO), he decided he wanted to join the US Navy “and see the world”. During the majority of his tour, he was stationed at the Pentagon, with top security clearance and was an honor guard at the inauguration of President Lyndon B. Johnson. He also got to spend a year in Iceland. After his Navy tour he began working at NCR and continued for 38 years, retiring in 2006.

Harold loved camping, fishing, and dogs and was a master at fixing anything. “A roll of duct tape, super glue, and WD-40 and he was set”. He was a very unique person with an uncanny sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

Services will be Monday, September 8th at 2:00 pm. at the Edmond Church of Christ, Chapel, with interment to follow as Gracelawn Cemetery.
