Harold Richard “Dick” Brumage

Harold Richard “Dick” Brumage, a friend of God and all his children, passed away peacefully at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma on September 3, 2016.  Dick was born July 24, 1943 to Harold Clarence and Mary Helen Whalen Brumage in Clarksburg, WV.  In 1961, Dick graduated from Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg, WV.  He attended Fairmont State College and after graduation, Dick joined the United States Navy in 1966 and received his Navy Wings of Gold at NAS Ellyson Field in Pensacola, FL in 1968.  While serving in Pensacola, he obtained his M.B.A from the University of West Florida.  Dick served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot and returned to civilian life in 1976.  He continued in the Navy Reserves until he retired in 1992.  Dick also worked as a postal carrier for 10 years until his retirement in 2003.
Dick attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he was a member of the choir and the Knights of Columbus.  He was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers fan.
Dick never met a stranger.  He loved meeting new friends and always made people smile.  He leaves behind several friends that were as close as family.  Don Nowak, Reg Kennerty, Rose Mary Brumage, and Rex Shi and CiCi Tian.
Dick’s greatest love was his family.  He is survived by his loving wife, Michele “Mickie” Brumage; daughter, Karen Townsend and her husband, Doug, of Edmond; son, Richard Brumage and his wife, Holly, of San Diego, CA; stepdaughter Kathryn Rosenbach, of Edmond; stepson, Michael Rosenbach and his wife Lynette, of Parker, CO; stepdaughter, Amy Carson and her husband, Matt, of Sacramento, CA; stepson, Brian and his wife Theresa, of Davis, CA; stepson Raymond Rosenbach and his fiancé, Doreen, of Colorado Springs, CO.  Dick was so proud of his 16 grandkids, Travis, Matthew, and Brandon Townsend, Colin, Cadence, and Chase Brumage, Michael Rosenbach, Sami and Ben Rosenbach, Peyton and Brady Carson, Megan, Savannah, and Bella Rosenbach, and Justin and Kaylee Rosenbach. He is survived by one sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Tustin and her husband Glen of Clarksburg, WV; one brother, William “Bill” Brumage and his wife Jacqueline “Jackie” of Bridgeport, WV; a special cousin, Julia Soja of Parkersburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert James “Bob” Brumage of Clarksburg, WV and his niece Erin Whelan Brumage of Bridgeport, WV.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave., Edmond.  A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond.  Interment will follow at the Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond, OK.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dick Brumage to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or MD Anderson Cancer Center.
