Harlan Daniel Smith

1932-2024
Harlan Daniel Smith was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 25, 1932. He was adopted at birth by Birch and Ellen Smith who raised him to be a responsible, hardworking, Christian young man.
He lived with his parents and brother and sister in Muskogee, Oklahoma through grade school, then they moved to Oklahoma City where he attended Central High School.
Harlan joined the U.S. Navy where he completed his high school accreditation. He served as a Metalsmith repairing boats and equipment. After being discharged from the Navy, he enrolled and attended Oklahoma State University which was then Oklahoma A & M. While attending college, he met and married Mary Smith on September 16, 1955. They lived in Stillwater during that school year, then Harlan was recruited by an insurance agency. He spent the next 50 plus years as an agent for various insurance companies. He owned his own small insurance agency, a big portion of that time.
Harlan stayed busy, involved in other things. Harlan and Mary and their four children lived in the country where they had a small farm operation. He had houses moved and restored for resale.
He purchased a mobile home park in Colorado where he spent, along with the help of Mary and the family, much time.
Along with several hobbies and endeavors he was faithful to the church and his family.
Harlan and Mary raised four children and were blessed with six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren plus 2 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Carrie, and a brother and sister.
Loved ones surviving him are his wife of 69 years, Mary, son Dan Smith and wife Cecilia, son Randy Smith and wife Helen and son Ron Smith. Plus, the six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends.

I’m fortunate to have the honor of having met Harlan, he was a true gentleman. The world needs more fine Christian men like Harlan, May God give him eternal comfort in Heaven. May God bless and comfort his family during this difficult time. We have lost many members from this generation, may we learn from their steadfast dedication to faith and family.
I’m so sorry for your loss Danny and family. Big hugs
