Hailey Asher Jean Sweet

Hailey Asher Jean Sweet

October 5, 2003 – June 23, 2025

With aching hearts and unshakable faith, we announce the passing of Hailey Asher Jean Sweet. She left this world at the young age of 21 after a long, courageous battle with Juvenile Huntington’s disease.

From the beginning, Hailey was joyful, spirited and strong-willed. She had such a big personality! She was witty, funny and slightly inappropriate at times. She had many interests over the years. She loved animals of all kinds and would have had a zoo if we let her. She did cheer for one year, arial arts and drama another. She loved all kinds of movies, musicals, and types of music. She continued to sing along to all of her favorites until the very last week.

Though the disease took so much from her, it never took *her* – not her sense of humor, her spirit, her fight. She persevered and overcame every obstacle that came her way. Every setback became fuel for her determination, and every difficult day only deepened her strength and resolve. But even the strongest of warriors eventually become fatigued.

Hailey may not have been able to verbally tell us things anymore, but she was able to text us her thoughts, needs, and desires until only a couple of days before she passed and we are so very thankful for that.

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the device that had allowed Hailey to live, to get the nutrients and medications that she needed for the last seven years failed and Hailey chose not to have it replaced. She told us that she was ready to go home. She was ready to be with Jesus. Hailey was tired and no longer willing to fight this fight. We chose to honor her wishes.

She was so brave, so strong, so resilient. We are so proud of the young woman that was; of the life that she lived.

She is survived by her parents, Charles and Jamie Sweet. Her siblings, Robert Sweet and Chelsea Britton; her niece and nephew, Hazel and Kayson; her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Her life, though far too short, was as full as it could possibly be. She loved fully, laughed loudly, and lived in a way that left no doubt: she was here, and she mattered.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Church, 122 W. Seward Rd., Guthrie, OK 73044.

Though Juvenile Huntington’s disease took her body, it never touched her soul. She is free now – no more pain, no more limits. Healthy and whole. She’s in Heaven with Jesus singing, dancing, and free.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your daughter. Even though I never met her, I feel connected to her as both of our daughters had JHD, and they both passed so close together. She was an inspiration to all of us. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
