H. “Gary” Crandall

 

July 30, 1933 – June 28, 2015

H. “Gary” Crandall, 81, of Edmond, OK passed through this life into Heaven on June 28, 2015. Gary was born on July 30, 1933 in Wadena, IA the oldest of 4 children.

He leaves behind 4 daughters, Colleen Bowien, husband Billy of OKC; Lynn Scott, husband Michael of Broken Arrow, OK; Annette Collier and Robyn Crandall, both of Edmond, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, “Bing” Crandall of OKC.

Gary’s pride and joy were his 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was the best “Pop” on the planet. He will be missed every day until we see him again.

Gary served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Antietam from 1951-1955. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, OU football, classic cars, horses and western films. Our dad never met a stranger; he truly loved life and lived every moment with humor and laughter.

His wish was to have his ashes taken to the Volga River where he fished as a boy. Gary’s daughters extend a special thank you to Bob Howl for his generosity and friendship.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Matthews Funeral Home chapel.

    I loved you like you were my own biological grandfather. I thank you for being there in my childhood. I remember your face used to light up when you’d see us. I’m sorry for not visiting you. I’m greatly sorry. I will always love you. I cannot forgive myself for not visiting you. You were a wonderful man and raised a large and loving family. Goodbye, I hope I can see you again someday.
