Guy Edward Stagner, Jr.

Guy Edward Stagner Jr, age 74 from Oklahoma City, OK passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in OKC after a courageous battle with cancer. While in school he was active in 4-H (taking several woodworking projects to the State Fair) and was a great basketball player. After graduation, Guy went to the University of Oklahoma in Norman on a President’s Leadership Scholarship. He attended OU for one year before he was drafted into the military and served 2 years in the United States Army from 1966-1968. Upon his return from the service, he completed his bachelors degree in Business Administration from Central State (UCO) in 1973, while also working at Western Electric.

Guy was an amazing husband, brother, father, and papa. He will be greatly missed by all. To know Guy was to truly love him. Some of his best qualities were he was kind, funny, generous, loving, hard working, loyal, determined and had high integrity. His youngest granddaughter would say, “My papa is the smartest man I know”.
He worked in the oil and gas business most of his life, where he had a successful career. Guy retired from Devon Energy in 2009. He quickly went back to work for Continental Resources, and retired for good in 2019, as a Division Order Supervisor.

I had the privilege of working with Guy over a number of years-first when he was a landman at Kingfisher Partners Ltd., then at Devon.
Please accept my condolences for your loss. He was truly a pleasure both to work with and to work FOR. He was greatly respected in the oil and gas industry as a man of outstanding integrity and ability.

Mrs. Stagner, Kevin, Amanda, and family – I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mr. Stagner was always so warm and kind when I was with him. The great life he led is evidenced by the legacy he leaves through his wonderful family. You are in my thoughts at this difficult time. Peace, Shannon
Worked with Guy at Devon. Always friendly and smiling. I know he will be missed. Prayers of comfort for his family and friends.
Some of the happiest memories I have of my childhood were summer visits to Granny & Grandpa Davis house with Guy, Leo & Doris. We had alot of fun playing “house” listening to Leo sing Elvis tunes, gathering eggs, picking berries & other farm adventures.
Guy & Leo were hilarious! I’ve always loved them alot.
Very kind & loving people & I thank them for always treating me the same no matter what mistakes I made along the way.
Love you eternally,
Judy Gale
Guy ALWAYS treated me with kindness, no matter what I did in life. I was always equal to everyone else. He had a beautiful smile and a wonderful laugh. My mom tells some pretty great stories about their childhood and how much fun they had as children. Guy was very giving and had a great sense of humor. I will miss him dearly.
Love to all his family,
Xo

I was fortunate to have worked with Guy at Continental from 2015 until his retirement. Guy was a great leader who led his team with integrity and fairness. He was a man of tremendous strength and a gentle heart. He was my mentor, my confidant, and my friend. May his soul rest in peace.
My sincere condolences to all his family and friends.
While I did not know Mr. Stagner, I knew of him from my good friend Kevin. Kevin speaks warmly about his family and especially his dad. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss. To my friend Big Kev, I love you brother.
I only remember meeting Guy a couple times, when he and his family came down to the Broken Bow area to float the river with my family. I remember he was funny, like Leo, and I enjoyed meeting and visiting with everyone. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray God gives you peace and comfort.
My sincere condolences for your loss Priscilla & family. Leo & Norma & family & Doris. I love you all dearly. It was wonderful growing up with Guy, Leo & Doris. Our families were very close & I considered Guy one of my very best friends.
Life here on this earth will be forever changed; but, we know Guy is wrapped in Jesus arms & is having a grand tour of Heaven. May it comfort you to know how much you are loved & know our Lord is with you.
I had the honor of meeting Guy for the first time at Ft. Belvoir Va. Kind, friendly and very quick witted, we became instant friends. He was with me when I met my first wife at a dance, became friends with my family in Pa. and we remained life long friends . Although we were far apart in later life, we managed to remained staunch friends, recalling some crazy times in our military experiences but never straying far from our core values of Honor, Duty, Integrity. Rest peacefully my friend. Until Valhalla.
I was fortunate to have been hired by Guy at Continental. He was a great boss and had such a kind heart. He truly enjoyed working and passing on his knowledge to others. Those here at work felt like we knew your family as he talked about you all and being a “Papa” was his greatest blessing. Thank you for sharing him with us.
My deepest sympathy and prayers for your family during this time.
Guy and I joined Continental on the same day. I met him in the induction and worked with him until his retirement. He was a very gentle and noble soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I apologize for not being there during this difficult time, but wanted you to know that I am with all of you in my heart and my sincere condolences go out to you . I was a foreigner to Oklahoma when I came there to marry Shirley and start a new chapter in my life. Guy and all of your family accepted me with open arms. Living close to Guy and Pris in Bethany was so helpful to us during those early days…something I will always remember. If I walked in their door and wasn’t smiling, I would soon be smiling and still laughing when I left…Guy was such a “hoot” and could keep it going nonstop. And when all of you got together, it was a real “party”. Without a doubt, he will be missed by you all and all those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. I know with his kind spirit and love he has earned a place at peace with God and will be waiting at the gate when the time comes to get that “party” started.
My prayers for peace and comfort to all of you now and for the future…
Love,
Tim
Duane and I are so very sorry we will not be able to attend Guy’s service this morning but we will be there in thoughts and prayers. We send much sympathy to all his family. I KNOW HE WILL BE MISSED HORRIBLY!
We both had the privilege to know him and work with him at Devon. He was a GREAT MAN!
Priscilla, I am so grateful to have known Guy and have you both in my life. What a fun and generous man he was… always made me laugh. He will be missed.
You are in my thoughts and prayers always.
Love, Dana
I just found out about Guy’s passing. I had the privilege of cleaning his windows and installing Christmas lights for him for the past couple years. I have thousands of clients, and I love them all, but Guy was always a joy to work for. He was such a nice guy. He will definitely be missed.
I had the pleasure to work with Guy while I was on the Oracle project at Kerr-McGee. He was always great to work, easy to get along with and a hard worker. My fondest memories of him are when we would step away from our desks at lunch to grab a bite to eat. He was a kind, kind man!
